My New Weeny Cocktail Phase
Need a way to drink faster
It used to be that the Mrs. and I would hang out with a bottle of wine at the tail end of an evening and just chill for a couple-few hours. I’ve been transitioning to more of a cocktail-based chilling experience over the past couple years. The initial interest was on merging a bit of experimentation with a splash of kitchen fun with a shake of getting wasted. As it turns out, you can get pretty damn wasted, pretty damn quick. And with my recent interest in homemade bitters and other infused delights, me in my pantry have become the proverbial 39 year old kid in a liquor-backed candy store. Pretty hard to stop at just one (or 3).
Enter the brilliant invention, the mild mannered cordial glass, stage right.
Weighing in at a meager 2oz (accounting for spirits, fillers, agents, and junk combined), this dainty delight is the haiku of cocktails – a spirited short story if you will. You won’t? OK, I’ll scale it back.
They’re small. I can make a bunch.
A couple cocktail recipes of recent
1/2oz Campari
1/2oz Blue Curacao
1oz Cinnamon Imperial infused Vodka
dash or 2 of orange bitters
1/2oz Campari
3/4oz Anise infused Cachaca
3/4oz Haribo frog infused Cachaca
